Crib

At some point when Blair was little, Nick and I made a decision that we liked our sleep over listening to a crying baby in her crib. So Blair has been in our bed for forever. We have finally decided that it was time to put her in her crib. The first night (Wednesday, July 22) went as well as could be expected. She did not take her evening nap so I figured that she would be ready for bed early. Well I was wrong. I guess she was overly tired and got hyper. She stayed up really late. I reached my limit and wanted to go to bed too so I took her upstairs and brushed her teeth and told her that she was going to be a big girl and sleep in her big girl bed. She started crying as we walked in her room. I put her in her crib and kissed her on the head and said good night and walked out of the room. She cried for about 7 minutes before it was too much for Nick. He took her out of the crib for a few minutes and then put her back. She cried for about another 20 minutes before she realized that we were not coming back in to get her. She did so well that she slept for about 8 hours before she woke up. I was not ready to get up so I put her in bed with us to get a few more hours of sleep. The second night (Thursday, July 23), again she did not take her evening nap, was better than the first. I brushed her teeth and took her into her room and told her that she is still a big girl and needed to sleep in her big girl bed again. She cried when we walked into the room and again I gave her a kiss and put her in the bed. She cried for less than 2 minutes. I was so shocked that it was so fast that I poked my head in to make sure she was ok. Well she was just sitting there and saw me. I said a quick good night and left the room. She slept for about 9 hours that night before waking up. Night three (Friday, July 24), was not as wonderful as the first two nights. She cried for less than a minute but woke up after being in there for only 2 hours. I was so tired that I just put in in our bed and went back to sleep. Night four (Saturday, July 25) was better than night three. I think that Nick put her to bed and she cried for like 5 seconds and then was done. I woke her up on Sunday morning to get in the car so that we could go to Busch Gardens. Night five (Sunday, July 26) was great! Nick put her to bed and she didn't even cry. She just layed right down and slept until after we woke up today. I'm so happy that this has gone so well. I was very nervous because I thought that she would be so upset for longer. Hopefully getting rid of the paci in a few weeks will be this easy!
